We are so grateful, we truly believe in stem cell therapy
To the Editor:
As I look at my husband so sick, just lying there helpless – helpless for him, helpless for me – I can only help but think how many things in life are taken for granted. With no control of your body, only the torture of your mind knowing how it should really be. You try to move but the pain is so bad you can only pray for one moment of solitude.
My husband has Multiple Sclerosis. The invisible disease that if you were to just look at him, he is a handsome, young and vibrant man but that isn’t the case. He has a progressive, incurable, debilitating disease. I wrote this down on my phone three months ago thinking and only imagining and believing that a day would come when my husband would have some relief from the tortures of MS and the tortures of the doctor prescribed medications that “slow down the progression” of this incurable disease. That day was Monday, Feb. 20. My husband and I were fortunate enough to cross paths with two amazing doctors who performed stem cell surgery. They harvested my husband’s own stem cells through liposuction, separated the fat, the bad cells, good cells and the stem cells and intravenously put the stem cells back into his body. With a sugar water solution in an IV to break down the brain blocker, it carried the stem cells to the brain to repair the deterioration of the myelin sheath caused by the MS.
Oh yeah, fun fact: Did you know the definition of a stem cell? Stem cell: an unspecialized cell that can differentiate (i.e. change into) a specific specialized cell; also has the capability to replicate.
Your own body can repair its own body. It can change into any cell. This is just so amazing to me. No drugs, no side effects and best of all, it is not masking the disease, it is repairing the damage, if not at the least stopping it from doing anymore.
As of today, just four days after the procedure, some cognitive issues have dissipated, bladder issues have improved greatly and the best thing of all is hope for the future. We are so grateful that we had this opportunity and we truly believe stem cell therapy is growing and will continue to grow through awareness and testimonies such as ours.
