A message of thanks
Students say ‘thank you’ to community supporters

STRONGSVILLE – Students in the Strongsville City School district showed their appreciation for the opportunities and the facilities that have been provided to them by the community.

The students used their creativity to make thank-you notes to send to every donor of the Excellence In Athletics campaign. The campaign was a fundraising effort to install synthetic turf athletic fields at the middle school and high school. In under a year, the campaign committee brought in over $971,000.

That amount of community support deserves some thanks, and the Strongsville Positive Outreach Team – a group of administrators, teachers, counselors and other school staff members – wanted to make sure the donors felt the appreciation.

“In the honor of Thanksgiving, they wanted to thank our community for all that you have done for us over the past year, and all of the donations of time and money that many, many people have provided for our district so that we can have things like turf fields and a brand new phenomenal flag pole at our high school,” said Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Pelko.

All the students were asked to do was to provide thank-you notes, and they came back in all shapes and sizes. They personalized them with hand-written notes, pictures and more. Every single donor – from the $5 donations to the $410,000 naming rights donation – will receive a special note of thanks from the students who will use and benefit from the new facilities.
