WOOSTER – When a starter home starts to feel too small, most homeowners face a major dilemma: sell their current house and invest in their dream home, or transform their current residence into the home of their dreams by adding on.

For those homeowners who choose to pursue the addition route, creating the custom space they want and tying it into the existing home’s structure so that it looks as if it were part of the existing building is key to the project’s overall success.

Wes Miller, owner of Miller’s Premier Construction in Wooster, knows firsthand that homeowners do not want to be left with an addition that looks like an afterthought or an obvious add-on feature, which is why his company makes it a priority to create custom living spaces that blend with his clients’ budgets and their lifestyles.

“We have the expertise it takes to complete a quality addition and have it look as though it’s been part of the original home from the beginning,” Miller said, noting his company specializes in custom room and garage additions. “More often than not, creating an addition that properly blends with an existing structure requires more expertise than the original building took.”

Whether it’s an addition – or any other home improvement for that matter – Miller knows whatever the task might be, the project needs to be built properly from start to finish to enhance the value of his clients’ most important investments: their homes.

“Customer satisfaction is our No. 1 goal,” he said of his nine-member team. “We always stand behind our workmanship to ensure client confidence and go out of our way to make sure the job is done right the first time.”

In operation since 2011, Miller’s Premier Construction specializes not only in housing construction and additions, but also builds decks, pole barns, garages and new homes. At the same time, the company also specializes in the installation of gutters, roofs, metal shingles, standing seam metal and more.

“There are some roofing contractors who say that metal roofs are just a fad,” Miller said. “However, many make that claim because they themselves are not proficient in the proper installation techniques. If not installed properly, metal roofs can create condensation issues that can eventually cause the roof structures to fail.”

With the proper installation, Miller said metal roofs offer twice the life of a regular shingle roof for a comparable cost. At the same time, he said, the manufacturer offers a 40-year warranty on its metal roofing materials.

“Once people find out how much longer metal roofs can last and that they have only a slightly higher cost than traditional roofs, they are usually sold,” he said.

Miller said his team of experienced workers has contributed to his company’s high quality of workmanship.

“You have to find the right employees and then treat them right so that they stay with you,” he said. “You can’t have the highly experienced crew you need if you have to keep hiring and training new people.”

In addition to finding the right people for the job, Miller said his team makes sure to always go the extra mile for their customers.

“We go out of our way to get to know our customers right from the start,” Miller said. “We want to get their ideas, watch their visions turn into reality and see how excited they are with the final product.”
