Traffic stop leads to gun charge for juvenile

MONTVILLE – On Feb. 10, Sgt. Brett Harrison stopped a vehicle for speed on River Styx Road, and reportedly found the 17-year-old male passenger, from Medina Township, was in possession of a loaded firearm.

Through their investigation, Harrison and Officer Joel Eckstine reportedly learned the weapon, a .22 caliber revolver, had been stolen from a Medina home, when the suspect was there to visit a friend.

The suspect was incarcerated in the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center for the weekend, and faced a Juvenile Court Judge Feb. 13, to answer to one count of felony theft of a firearm and one count of felony improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
