Man falling in lot leads police to drugs in vehicle

Wadsworth Police Department

March 5 – Staff from an Ambassador Drive business called the police department at approximately 2 p.m. to report a man who was acting strange and had fallen down in their parking lot. The caller stated that he suspected the man was under the influence of drugs. As officers responded to the area, the driver of a vehicle that was trying to help the individual left. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle while other officers made contact with the man in the parking lot. A K9 officer alerted to the vehicle and a search of the car yielded drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges are pending further investigation.

Wadsworth Police Department

March 5 – Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Trease Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. in reference to a report of a domestic disturbance. Two individuals left the scene and were located as they merged on to Interstate 76 westbound. After an investigation, a 29-year-old Ashland man was cited for disorderly conduct and a 34-year-old Ashland woman was arrested and charged with assault and criminal trespass.

March 5 – Police officers and EMS personnel responded to a business in the 900 block of High Street shortly before 7 p.m. in reference to a report of an unresponsive individual.

March 4 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that allegedly struck a curb while turning south onto Main Street from College Street. After an investigation the driver, Nathan Labo, 26, of Broad Street, was arrested and charged with OVI.

March 4 – Police officers met with a resident from the 100 block of Euclid who reported that various power tools were stolen out of a house he was renovating. The incident is under investigation.

March 3 – Police officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Third Street at approximately 11:40 p.m. in reference to a report of a theft of a firearm. The incident is under investigation.

March 3 – Police officers received a report about a possibly intoxicated driver traveling on Interstate 76 eastbound at approximately 9:40 p.m. Officers located and stopped the vehicle. Officers reported noticing an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and they located marijuana, a marijuana pipe and rolling papers during a vehicle search. The driver, Sarah Hilbert, 35, of Massillon, was cited for possession of marijuana.

March 3 – Police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of High Street at approximately 6:25 p.m. in reference to a report of a disorderly situation in the parking lot of a business. Upon police arrival, the parties had already separated. After a brief investigation Roy Roudebush, 23, of South Boulevard, was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for disorderly conduct.

March 2 – A business from Park Center Boulevard reported the theft of some checks. The matter is under investigation.

March 1 – A resident from the 100 block of East Street reported that some damage was done to his home in February.

March 1 – The police department received a request from the Medina Police Department that they check for a possible stolen vehicle from their city. The vehicle was located on East Bergey Street and will be released back to its owner.

March 1 – A resident from the 100 block of Chestnut Street reported an incident of identity theft. The unknown suspect cloned the victim’s debit card and used it to withdraw money from her account at an out of state ATM.

March 1 – Police officers responded to the Wadsworth Public Library just after 9 p.m. in reference to a report of an abandoned bicycle. The bike was taken to the city storage locker for safe keeping.

March 1 – Police officers responded to the 1000 block of Raven Place at approximately 6:30 p.m. in reference to a report of a theft. An investigation is ongoing.

Norton Police Department

March 2 – A 64-year-old man working at a Summit Road address returned to find an abandoned semi tractor running behind the house and his own pickup truck gone. A check showed the semi stolen out of Cuyahoga Falls. The trailer attached to the semi when it was stolen, as well as the tractor’s inner wheels, were not there.

March 2 – An officer on Interstate 76 allegedly saw a driver throw a lit cigarette out of the car and pulled it over on Barber Road. The occupants of the vehicle reportedly expressed ignorance of the illegality of throwing a cigarette out of a car window and the officer allegedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol. The driver, James M. Price, 47, reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. He allegedly blew .148 on a breath test. He was also charged with littering.

March 1 – An officer followed a vehicle on Interstate 76 for having his turn signal on persistently without changing lanes and allegedly saw it cross the fog line several times. He pulled it over on Cleveland-Massillon Road and the driver, Matthew A. Marshall, 43, reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. Marshall allegedly blew .165 on a breath test.

Feb. 27 – An officer pulled a car over on Interstate 76 for not staying in its lane and discovered the driver, Gertrude Stutler, had several open suspensions. A passenger in the back seat, Amy E. Vancleave, 28, had a felony probation violation warrant out of Summit County and was arrested. Sutler was cited for her traffic violations and driving under suspension and her car was towed.

Feb. 27 – A Greenwich Road store reported a shoplifter, providing a license plate number and description for the vehicle he left in. The car is registered to a Painsville resident and the case was turned over to the detective bureau.

Rittman Police Department

March 3 – An officer saw a man police knew had a felony warrant enter a Seneca Street residence. Speaking with him, they discovered he also had two misdemeanor warrants against him. During the conversation, they lost him and brought him around with two doses of naloxone; he allegedly admitted using heroin. He was taken to the Wayne County Jail.

March 2 – An officer pulled a vehicle over on Home Street and discovered the driver had an expired license. The K-9 allegedly alerted on the vehicle and police reportedly discovered the passenger, a 42-year-old Rittman man had methamphetamine in his pocket. He allegedly admitted he had just bought the drug. Charges were pending confirmation from a laboratory.

March 2 – Someone broke into a 61-year-old Eastern Road woman’s house and stole about $500 worth of coins and tools.

Feb. 27 – A person driving a vehicle registered to a Rittman resident allegedly drove off from an East Ohio Street gas station without paying for $20 worth of gas.

Feb. 27 – Police went to a South Main Street address and found a 34-year-old Akron man lying on the floor. He was revived with a dose of naloxone and police allegedly found suspected marijuana in the house. Children’s Services entered the case after reportedly learning that three children live in the home and may be at risk.
