The Educational Service Center of Medina County and the Medina County Art League announced the award winners of this year’s Medina County Art League Continuing Art Education Scholarships. This year’s festival opened its doors to over 230 works of art by 57 local high school students.

The senior show continues to run through April 19 in the South Medical Office Building, Entrance D, 970 East Washington Street, Medina. Show hours are as follows: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Monday through Friday) and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday).

Scholarship portfolio winners
• First place: Zachary Batey, $1,000, Wadsworth High School (Dave Derrig, teacher), planning to attend The University of Akron

• Second place: Erin Murphy, $700, Wadsworth High School, (Dave Derrig, teacher), planning to attend Ohio University

• Third place: Courtney Klebau, $550, Brunswick High School (Rhonda Januszewski, Nichole Scheutzow, and Shauna Spiesz, teachers), planning to attend University of Cincinnati

Honorable Mention: Kasey Kania, $350, Medina High School (Bobbie Foy, teacher), planning to attend Kent State University

Non-scholarship portfolio winners
• First place: Danielle Taylor, Cloverleaf High School (Julie Krueger, teacher)

• Second place: Olivia Foose, Cloverleaf High School (Julie Krueger, teacher)

Third place: Emily Holmberg, Highland High School (Bonnie Kubilus, teacher)
