Amazon is to close the Gloucester-based Book Depository online shop at the end of the month. It comes as part of cuts by the online retailer to reduce its costs, which includes more than 25,000 job losses. The business, founded in 2004 and taken over by Amazon in 2011, has offices in London, Gloucester, Madrid, Cape Town and Chennai. The company said it will continue to deliver purchases and provide support on any order issues for the next two months.
