COMERFORD, Thomas

Thomas M. Comerford, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on August 26 in his residence at the Plaza at Edgemere.

He was born on July 7,1938, in New York City, a place with which he strongly identified, even after moving to Dallas in1988. Among his favorite things were old movies (especially the musicals of the 1940s and 1950s), the New York Yankees, bargain hunting (especially at garage sales), walking and playing with his dog, reading, and history. An avid traveler for many years, he enjoyed mapping out routes and especially liked touring cities. Prior to retirement, he worked as an attorney for JCPenney; on the weekends, he relaxed by doing light carpentry and home repair. He was a dedicated alumnus of Fordham Prep, University, and Law School, and rarely missed a reunion. He married Kathleen Geeney (1938-2019) in 1963 and enjoyed nearly 56 years by her side. Together, they raised Elizabeth Melia (Mark) and Kathleen (Mark Edwards), and helped welcome three grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law into the family. His younger sister Maire, a close member of the family, died in 1997. Services will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Fordham Prep (https://www.fordhamprep.org/ giving), Good Shepherd Church (https://goodshepherdnyc.org), or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (https://ssvpusa.org/donate).
