A top Dallas-area property developer and a major investor in downtown Dallas’ resurgence will be added to the North Texas Real Estate Hall of Fame.

Bill Cawley has developed more than 12 million square feet of North Texas office space. His Cawley Partners has built more than $500 million in projects along the Dallas North Tollway in the last five years.

Cawley recently announced plans for two 12-story office towers with more than 600,000 square feet in Frisco.

Dallas businessman Tim Headington began buying up and renovating buildings along downtown Dallas’ Main Street more than 15 years ago. His Headington Cos. was one of the first firms to get behind the program to revitalize Dallas’ old financial district.

Headington Cos. has spent more than a half-billion dollars on downtown projects including the Joule Hotel, CBD Provisions and Forty Five Ten. The company just completed a renovation of the landmark Davis Building on Main Street.

Headington also has assembled more than 10 acres for future development on the northwest side of downtown.

“Tim Headington and Bill Cawley are visionary leaders whose extraordinary contributions have improved our communities in remarkable ways,” said Darrell Hurmis of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and Real Estate Professionals.

The commercial real estate group has sponsored the annual North Texas Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame for 35 years. Past recipients of the award include legendary Dallas developer Trammell Crow, Henry S. Miller Jr., Roger Staubach, Jerry Jones and Ross Perot Jr.

Along with Cawley and Headington, the commercial property group next year will honor longtime North Texas real estate investor and broker David Gleeson. Gleeson will receive the organization’s Michael F. McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards will be presented in May at the real estate group’s annual Hall of Fame ceremony.
