Public to get 2 chances to tour Camden’s newest music center
CAMDEN
This summer, the Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School will offer two opportunities for the public to visit and learn more about the reuse of one of Camden’s historic buildings. In 2022, the organization launched a fundraising campaign to purchase and renovate the structure at 5 Mountain St.

(formerly known as High Mountain Hall) to serve as its new home, renaming it the Bixler Music Center.

Originally built as a church, the structure also has served as a grange hall and, most recently, a health spa. Now, this new center for music is in the middle of a two-year renovation and addition to become a fully accessible 7,769-square-foot building, including a concert hall, with ample teaching and office space and parking.

The two public tours of the organization’s new music venue will be held at noon July 18 and at 3 p.m. Aug. 16, offering a chance for people to see the progress and learn about opportunities to help complete fundraising efforts, with less than $1 million to raise. All are welcome to stop by for a walk-through of the space, slated to open in June 2024.
