SPARKING UP LUXURY CAB RIDES
A RIDESHARE boss is adding newfound luxury to the Gold Coast taxi sector by offering trips in a Tesla.
Three years ago Black & White Cabs Gold Coast operator Jai Nandal said he came up with the idea to “raise the standard of vehicles” in the Coast taxi market. Three months ago he did it.
“With the Olympics coming up in 10 years, we need to start upgrading our city now, and that includes our transport options,” he said.
“It’s a long-term investment and I think more people should take bigger risks to reap the rewards.”
Professional drivers are employed to manage the business-class fleet, which includes a Tesla, Mercedes, BMW and Camry S.
Mr Nandal plans to add more luxury Mercedes vans in the near future and eventually introduce the new Tesla Model Y when it hits Australian shores.
“I wanted to raise the bar for taxi services on the Gold Coast and I believe I have done that.
Many passengers have never been inside a Tesla until they get into my taxi,” he said.
“I often receive feedback from passengers saying: ‘That wasn’t just a ride, it was an experience’.”
