WOMEN of Tamusua Village in northern Yasawa say a solarpowered freezer given by Government would improve their livelihoods.

The new addition to the Tamusua Women’s Association was officially handed over by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa last week.

Tamusua villager Anaseini Balenasiga said the freezer would not only benefit the women’s association, it would also boost opportunities for every villager.

“A lot of women bake and need items like butter but we couldn’t store them for long periods because we didn’t have a freezer,” she said.

“We also needed a freezer in our canteen which the women of the village run.

“This will really help us buy and even sell items that can be stored in the fridge including fish.”
