Michael Lowenkron passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025. Mike was born on October 6, 1943, to Herbert and Rella Lowenkron. He graduated from Columbia Engineering School in 1965 and Fordham Law School in 1968.
Mike had a successful 35-year career at JCPenney. During his tenure as Vice President of the Real Estate Department, he spearheaded the company’s move from New York to Dallas. He was an active member and Trustee of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Board Member of the Urban Land Institute and Founding Member of the Graduate Real Estate Program at Wharton.
Mike cherished every day and often said “Life is Good”. He grew up playing baseball, which he continued to do for decades.
Not only did he play, but he loved watching all sports, coaching his girls and attending all events for his grandchildren. Mike enjoyed bridge, golf, television, travel and spending time with friends and family.
Mike was a devoted husband to Elaine for 54 years, a loving father to Melissa Lowenkron and Debbie (Kevin) Robinowitz, an adoring grandfather to Anna and Jake Robinowitz, wonderful brother to Steven (Susan) Lowenkron, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Mike will be sorely missed but will remain in the heart and memoryofall who knew him.
There will be a memorial service for Mike in the Beck Sanctuary at Congregation Shearith Israel on Sunday, March 9at5:00pm.
