Attorney Michael A. Lappin
Attorney Michael A. Lappin, of Dracut and North Andover, died Wednesday at the age of 75. For more than three decades Mr. Lappin practiced criminal law in Lowell for the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services and its predecessor, the Massachusetts Defenders Committee. He attended Saint Michael’s School in Lowell and was a graduate of Dracut High School, Suffolk University and Suffolk Law School.

Mr. Lappin was a tenacious advocate with a wry sense of humor. He was for a time a competitive tennis player, one year winning the Lowell City Tennis Tournament. He then became a passionate runner who competed in many road races, including the Boston Marathon.

He loved the Rolling Stones and Talking Heads, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.

Mr. Lappin was the son of the late Judge Francis L. Lappin and Antoinette Pallotto Lappin of Dracut. He is survived by his longtime significant other Molly Parks of North Andover; daughter Jennifer Lappin of Washington, D.C.; and son Alexander Lappin, his significant other Christina Bigelow of Lowell and their son Owen. He is also survived by his sister Martha Lappin Iarrapino (Anthony Iarrapino) of Lowell; brother Paul Lappin (Mary Lappin) of Lowell; sister Rosemary Lappin Mooney (Brian Mooney) of Andover; and favorite cousin Pasqua Leary of Lowell.

Services will be private. The members of the Lappin family wish to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff of D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell for their compassionate care.
