It troubled me greatly to read Eric Moskowitz’s article about struggling Army veteran Ian Beagan of Needham, who had difficulty receiving help from the Veterans Health Administration (“Combat-linked stress cited in ‘road rage’ arrest,’’ Metro, Feb. 20). This is more proof that the Department of Veterans Affairs’ health care system is broken and needs to be dismantled.
It is unconscionable that those who need care the most receive little to none. The many veterans who have been scarred by war don’t need need empty promises. They need to be made whole from the horrors of war.
The VA health care system needs to replaced by a voucher system, granting veterans greater access to private-sector health services, where they could be treated with the honor and dignity they deserve.
