The ‘citizen militia’ stands waiting and ready, apparently
Re “Judge upholds Mass. assault weapons ban’’ (Page One, April 7): Regarding the comments of Dave Workman, senior editor of thegunmag.com, on the Second Amendment — “If the citizen militia was ever called up, [the AR-15] is probably the gun they would be expected to show up with’’ — and his further commentary on things that didn’t exist when the First Amendment was written, I’d just add that when the Second Amendment was written, we didn’t have a standing army or the National Guard. So, under what circumstances, exactly, and by whom (Alex Jones, perhaps?), does Workman expect the “citizen militia’’ to be “called up’’? Just wondering.
