At last, a bipartisan idea: term limits for Supreme Court justices

I strongly support Jeff Jacoby’s call for a constitutional amendment establishing term limits for justices on the Supreme Court (“Stop the high court wars by ending life tenure,’’ Ideas, Feb. 28). I am usually not in accord with Jacoby, and the fact that I am on this issue underscores one of the key points he makes in this column — namely, that such an effort would be bipartisan.

All ends of the political spectrum potentially could come together around advancing such an amendment. And with all of the partisanship, anger, and disillusionment that currently infect the body politic, the country greatly needs some healing and at least one thing to agree upon right now.
