A Roslindale man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly slamming into a taxi while driving drunk on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, killing a 39-year-old Rhode Island man who wasa passenger in the taxi, State Police said.

Michael Spinale, 41, was charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation, State Police spokesman David Procopio said. Spinale was also charged with traffic violations, including speeding, failure to use care in stopping, and failure to stay within marked lanes, he said.

The victim was identified as Kailash Bolar, a resident of Warwick, R.I., who suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police.

Spinale was allegedly speeding in a 2014 Kia Cadenza on I-95 southbound around 1 a.m. when his car struck the back of the taxi, a 2015 Toyota Camry, near exit 2, Procopio said.

The taxi driver, a 50-year-old Brockton man, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with minor injuries.

The breakdown lane and right travel lane near the collision were closed down for a few hours Saturday morning as State Police investigated the crash. The lanes were opened just before 4 a.m.

Spinale was not injured in the crash. He is being held at the State Police barracks in Foxborough in lieu of $10,000 bail, and will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Monday, Procopio said.
