Boston Pops on Nantucket
Last year’s concert raised nearly $2 million for Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and this year’s event – the 20th annual – promises to be just as noteworthy. For the anniversary performance, the Pops will feature special guest Kenny Loggins, whose hits include not just “Footloose’’ and “Danger Zone,’’ but the theme from “Caddyshack.’’

Cape Harmony
They clearly share a goofy sense of humor – they answer to nicknames including Smilly, Natkat and Chicken. But the 10 young women who make up Cape Harmony, an all-female a cappella group, take their singing very seriously. Now in their 11th season performing popular songs from multiple generations, the group has a busy summer schedule, with weekly gigs in Cotuit, Chatham, Falmouth, and on Tuesdays, in Hyannis.
7 p.m.$10-12. Federated Church of Hyannis, 320 Main St. http://www.capeharmony.org
“The Tempest’’
With the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s voyage to America looming, the Monomoy Theatre gets a head start on the festivities by staging Shakespeare’s tragicomic “The Tempest.’’ Bear with us: many historians believe he was inspired by reports of the 1609 shipwreck of the Sea Venture in Bermuda. Aboard was Stephen Hopkins, who later sailed to Plymouth on the Mayflower. Hopkins may have been the model for the comic character Stephano, who says – somewhat misleadingly, if indeed he’s based on Hopkins – “I shall no more to sea, to sea.’’
8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. matinee Thursday. $27-29. 776 Main St., Chatham. www.monomoytheatre.org
Red Maple Swamp Trail Fundraiser
For years, portions of the Red Maple Swamp Trail in Eastham have been closed due to structural deterioration. The Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore are hosting a fundraiser to restore the trail with a gala event featuring guest speaker Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman. Better known as “Dr. Beach,’’ he’s the coastal ecologist behind the annual Top Ten U.S. Beaches list, where the Cape is typically well-represented.

Kennedy, the presidential candidate who was gunned down in 1968, five years after his brother met the same fate. A reception at the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum will be followed by a lecture and book signing at the Cape Codder Resort.
Reception 5-6 p.m. $25. 397 Main St., Hyannis. http://jfkhyannismuseum.org.
