Johnny Manziel indicted, to enter not guilty plea
From staff and wire reports

A Texas grand jury Tuesday indicted former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel on an assault charge after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence. The woman, Colleen Crowley, told police that the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner repeatedly hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out Jan. 30 in Dallas. Crowley said in court documents Manziel, 23, struck her so hard she temporarily lost hearing in one ear. Manziel was accused in the indictment of striking Crowley and ‘‘forcing [her] into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard.’’ Manziel, who was cut by the Browns in March, faces a charge of misdemeanor assault related to family violence, which carries up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine. ‘‘Johnny will certainly plead ‘not guilty’ and we believe the evidence will support that plea,’’ El Paso lawyer Jim Darnell, one of Manziel’s attorneys, said in a statement.
