Wouldn’t it be nice to escape the world’s troubles for a little bit and hunker down in an enormous treehouse? Now you can, thanks to Acton’s Discovery Museums. They’ll launch Discovery Woods at a kickoff celebration on July 16-17 with music, food trucks, and free admission for kids 12 and under.

The al fresco playscape has a treehouse and enormous slides, wiggly bridges, nest swings, and climbing nooks, plus a birdhouse village and a beaver lodge. This isn’t just any tree house, either: It was built by DIY Network stars “The Treehouse Guys’’— stay tuned for an episode devoted to the museum this fall.

The dinosaur at the museum’s entrance has been an iconic symbol for generations of kids — think of it like the enormous Hilltop Steakhouse cow on Route 1, minus the beef. Speaking of which: Pop next door to Bueno Y Sano, a kid-friendly restaurant for burritos and tacos, after visiting. The launch party starts at 9 a.m. 177 Main St., Acton, 978-264-4200, www.discoverymuseums.org
