BSO should be ashamed for its part in elevating Levine
Re “In the maestro’s thrall’’ (Page A1, March 4): Congratulations to The Boston Globe. Not since the Spotlight series exposing child molestation by Catholic priests have I been so relieved to read a newspaper. Allegations of James Levine’s predatory behavior have been known by the music world and common knowledge in New York and Boston for decades. I was appalled when the Boston Symphony Orchestra hired him, and even more so when I attended a concert at Symphony Hall two weeks ago and saw his picture on the wall alongside other players and conductors.
The BSO should be ashamed. It owes an apology to every young musician who must walk by Levine’s image.
