Recent bird sightings as reported to the Massachusetts Audubon Society:

►Plum Island: Reports from Parker River Refuge included four northern shovelers, a great egret, a glossy ibis, an osprey, two rough-legged hawks, two piping plovers, four snowy owls, five tree swallows, and 20 snow buntings.

►Newbury: Observed on Scotland Road were 30 American wigeon, two northern shovelers, six northern pintails, 200 green-winged teal, and one Eurasian green-winged teal.

►Ipswich: There were reports of a greater white-fronted goose, eight great egrets, a snowy egret, and a greater yellowleg.

►Braintree: Waterfowl noted at Great Pond included a common loon, two red-necked grebes, a pied-billed grebe, a canvasback, 100 ring-necked ducks, 25 greater scaup, 60 common mergansers, 18 buffleheads, and eight common goldeneyes.

►Miscellaneous: Reports were highlighted by a pink-footed goose in the Barney Avenue fields in Rehoboth; a greater white-fronted goose in Arlington and another one in Essex; a tundra swan at the Atwood Reservoir in Carver; a tufted duck at Nantucket; a king eider in the Cape Cod Canal off Scusset Beach; 16 black vultures along with several turkey vultures in Essex; two sandhill cranes at Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area in Hanson; 38 common murres at Andrews Point in Rockport; glaucous gulls at Nantasket Beach, Revere Beach, and Cohasset; and several tree swallows in Cambridge.
