Re “Building a cyber ROTC,’’ Opinion, July 13: Maybe it’s time to institute a national draft, making it a “smart’’ draft. Make it age and gender neutral and, importantly, skills-driven, to meet government/military needs. Computer scientists could supply the cyber talent, gun club members the infantry, doctors/nurses the medical needs. However, I expect those who support democracy as long as someone else does the work would be against the idea of a national service.
