Michael Cohen, alas, has gotten it about right (“An American tragedy,’’ Opinion, July 13). The more evidence that accumulates confirming what many of us really know but have hoped against hope isn’t true — that we have elected a group of con men and incompetents to govern our nation — the sadder it becomes. I was thinking of this while watching a gleeful late-night TV host tell an audience how Donald Trump Jr. will be going to prison, and the audience hooting as if they had won the lottery. This is a sad, sad day, regardless of which “side’’ you’re on, and we should be greeting it with mourning, not joy.
