The good news, we guess, is that Ben Affleck is happily dating “Saturday Night Live’’ producer Lindsay Shookus.

The bad news is Affleck won’t be directing or writing the Batman movie as originally planned. Matt Reeves, who’d already taken over the film’s directing duties from Affleck, has revealed that he’s ditching Affleck’s script as well.

Reeves, best known for directing “Cloverfield’’ and the new “War of the Planet of the Apes,’’ told MTV’s “Happy Sad Confused’’ podcast that he’s ripped up the script written by Affleck, Chris Terrio, and Geoff Johns.

“It’s a new story,’’ Reeves said. “It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.’’

Over the weekend, Affleck was in St. Paul to receive a humanitarian award at the Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala. The two-time Oscar winner’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner was similarly honored by the foundation last year.

“When I told my oldest daughter that I was getting this award, she said, ‘Yeah, Dad. Mom already has that one,’ ’’ said Affleck, who was honored for his humanitarian work with the nonprofit organization Eastern Congo Initiative.
