Daily Item to Stones: Come back to Lynn
By Mark Shanahan

The publisher of The Daily Item in Lynn wants the Rolling Stones to finish what they started 50 years ago, but you can’t always get what you want. Publisher Peter Grant has written a letter to the band asking that they come back and finish the concert at the Manning Bowl that ended abruptly amid a wild melee. “At least, unlike Altamont, our Hells Angels were cool,’’ Grant writes in the letter addressed to Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman. (Someone should tell Grant that Wyman hasn’t played bass for the Stones since 1993.) In the letter, Grant offers to pick the band up at the airport and even let them stay at his house. He writes they could have breakfast the next morning at Brothers Deli. “Anyway, if you come — and, really, why wouldn’t you? — please play ‘Monkey Man.’ Thanks.’’
