



BAND ON BEACH The Satuit Band, composed of regional musicians from high school students to seasoned professionals, will perform a concert at the Bernie King Pavilion on Nantasket Beach. Under the direction of conductor Charlie Shaffer, the band is in its 85th year of performing free concerts at venues around the area.

DOWNTOWN FESTIVAL The annual Downtown Brockton Arts & Music Festival will run for three days at the Stacy Adams Cultural Arts Building and other locations throughout the city, featuring food, music, artwork, craft vendors, networking for professionals, and children’s activities. Bus transportation will be available between events.
The festival will begin with an open house in Gallery Thirty Three on Friday, Aug. 25, and conclude with a drummers’ circle and musical jam session in the gallery late Sunday, Aug. 27. A “Family Hip-Hop Block Party’’ will take place Saturday. Other events include an artists’ reception and musical performances Friday evening, picnic parties Saturday afternoon at two venues with live music, and live musical performances Saturday evening.

BRASS QUINTET The Brockton Symphony Orchestra brass quintet, featuring Wayne King and Joseph Donohue (trumpet), Elizabeth Jones (French horn), Peter Griffin (trombone), and David Vess (tuba), will also perform at the Brockton festival.

STORYTELLERS “Spoken Voices: Meet the Writers, Hear Their Voices’’ is a presentation by a group of writers who have met on Tuesday nights at famed storyteller Jay O’Callahan’s home in Marshfield for almost 20 years. The writers will speak about the methods they use to generate new works together and offer samples of their work.
