Canton senior Rebecca Eckler was in disbelief as she fell to the ice.

Eckler scored the winning goal with less than 10 seconds left to lift the Bulldogs over No. 9 Winchester, 3-2, Saturday in a Division 2 quarterfinal game at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

“I honestly thought I was going to miss it because I was so shocked,’’ said Eckler. “It was right there, the net was wide open. I was on my knees and everything, I just threw my stick at it and it went in.’’

“That was a big one for our program,’’ Canton coach Dennis Aldrich said. “I just couldn’t be happier for that group of girls.’’

Winchester junior Mariah Redler opened the scoring 2:33 into the contest. Sophomore Lauren Fitzpatrick answered for Canton on the power play 1:45 into the second.

Junior Madison Micciche scored to give Winchester (14-4-4) a 2-1 lead in the second period.

Eckler scored her first goal on a wraparound to draw her team even at 2-2 with 5:20 left in the second. Senior goalie Colleen Kelleher stopped 19 of 21 shots for Canton (12-4-6).

“Love this group. We’re like sisters, we’re so close,’’ said Eckler. “It’s just so exciting.’’

Division 2 quarterfinals

Methuen/Tewksbury 3, Longmeadow 2 — Tournament week wasn’t a good time for Methuen/Tewksbury goalie Kaia Hollingsworth to come down with a cold.

But the freshman was red hot in net, stopping 29 shots, and junior Kelly Golini scored the hat trick to lead the Red Rangers (19-1-3) at Gallo Arena.

Hollingsworth came up big throughout the game, but no save was bigger than her glove stop on Brigitte Goeler-Slough with 1:33 to go and the Lancers net empty.

“She practiced twice this week, so I think the first period was getting her confidence back,’’ coach Sarah Oteri said. “And you saw that confidence with that save at the end.’’

The No. 11 Red Rangers face reigning D2 champion and top-ranked Notre Dame of Hingham in the semifinals.

The Cougars ended Methuen/Tewksbury’s season last year in the quarterfinals.

“Back here, NDA again — we’ll be ready,’’ Oteri said.

Notre Dame (H) 2, Walpole 0 — Freshman Katie Pyne scored twice as the top-ranked Cougars (20-0-1) blanked the Rebels in a quarterfinal at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

Senior goalie Frankie Bonanno had 33 saves in net for the Rebels (12-9-2).

Pyne scored late in the second and third periods after a strong defensive effort for the reigning Division 2 champs. Freshman Erin Murray picked up a 17-save shutout.

Division 2 quarterfinals

Westwood 4, Pembroke 0 — Sophomore Kat Keith and junior Ashley Nolte both scored twice as No. 15 Westwood blanked No. 18 Pembroke in the quarterfinals.

Keith opened the scoring with 1:10 left in the first period and scored unassisted with 6:30 left in the second period. Nolte’s two goals came in the third period for Westwood (19-4-2).

The Wolverines will face Canton in the semis. Pembroke finishes 18-1-2.
