Five takeaways from the week in TV:
1. For the last four episodes of the season, “Saturday Night Live’’ will air live in all time zones, so that we will see the show simultaneously with the Central, Mountain, and Pacific time zones. “That way, everyone is in on the joke at the same time,’’ explained NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt.
2. Remember “The Good Fight,’’ that “Good Wife’’ spinoff that you can’t watch unless you pay for a subscription to CBS All Access? It was just renewed for a second season. Like other streaming services including Amazon and Netflix, CBS All Access has chosen not to reveal how many viewers are watching the show. Also renewed for a second season, by the way: FX’s “Legion’’ and HBO’s “Crashing.’’
3. FX hearts Ryan Murphy in a big way. The creator of the channel’s “Nip/Tuck,’’ “American Crime Story,’’ “American Horror Story,’’ and “Feud’’ is making another FX drama. Called “Pose,’’ it will be about society in 1980s New York.
4. The cast for that Amazon series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’’ keeps getting more interesting. The streaming service just announced that Timothy Hutton has signed on, joining stars John Krasinski and Peter Fonda.
5. “This Is Us’’ ended its first season this week without delivering on its tacit promise to show us Jack’s death. And I’m OK with that, although I wish the episode had been better. The far more cohesive and moving hour called “Memphis,’’ in which Randall’s father died, might have made a stronger finale. The show has already been renewed for two more seasons.
