Beau Hossler outplayed J.J. Spaun on another breezy day at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, but they shared the lead through three rounds of the PGA Tour’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The 22-year-old Hossler posted the best round Saturday — a bogey-free 5-under-par 66. Spaun, the leader after the completion of the second round in the morning, saved par with a 10-footer on the 18th for a 73. Hossler and Spaun, both winless on the PGA Tour, were at 9-under 204. Tony Finau was three strokes back after a 69 . . . Defending champ Shanshan Feng fired a 9-under 63 to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Japan Classic in Ibaraki. Feng carded seven birdies and an eagle at the Taiheiyo Club to move to 15-under 129, two strokes ahead of Ai Suzuki (65) . . . Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Shane Lowry will take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya. Aphibarnrat started the third round five shots behind Nicolas Colsaerts, and Lowry was six shots back. But Colsaerts carded a 2-over 73, Lowry shot a 65, and Aphibarnrat posted a 66 to reach 14 under.

Colts’ Davis left behind
The Colts will be missing starting cornerback Vontae Davis on Sunday in Houston. Team officials announced that Davis did not make the trip because of a non-injury-related issue. No additional details were given. Davis, a two-time Pro Bowler, was not listed on the injury report this week . . . The Redskins activated DeAngelo Hall off the physically unable to perform list late Friday night, and the veteran defensive back could make his season debut Sunday at Seattle. Hall, 33, hasn’t played since Week 3 of the 2016 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee . . . The Chiefs activated linebacker Tamba Hali from the PUP list, though it’s uncertain whether the five-time Pro Bowl selection will play Sunday in Dallas . . . The Giants placed starting center Weston Richburg on injured reserve with a concussion. Richburg has missed the last three games, replaced by Bret Jones . . . Injured Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas received a $3 million raise from the Browns. Thomas recently had surgery for a season-ending triceps injury. A team spokesman said that the Browns had agreed to the pay bump before Thomas, a 10-time Pro Bowler, was injured and they’ll stick to their plan. Thomas will get a $1.5 million roster bonus this season and a $1.5 million increase to his 2018 salary, pushing it to $10.3 million.

KHL could boycott PyeongChang
The Kontinental Hockey League may withdraw its players from the PyeongChang Olympics in protest at doping investigations into Russian athletes, the league president suggested on Saturday. The Moscow-based KHL, widely considered the strongest league outside the NHL, contains leading Russians but also many players who could represent the United States, Canada, and various European nations. In a statement, KHL president Dmitry Chernyshenko said the International Olympic Committee ‘‘is destroying the existing world order in sports’’ by pursuing doping cases against Russians in other sports who are suspected of using banned substances around the time of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Chernyshenko referenced the NHL’s absence from PyeongChang this February after failing to reach a deal with the IOC, and said ‘‘the KHL is ready to respond accordingly.’’

Kenseth may be idling
Matt Kenseth isn’t using the word retirement even though the former Cup Series champion is no longer looking for a ride in NASCAR’s top series for next season. Speaking from the circuit’s championship stop at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Kenseth said that he is not committed to anything for 2018. Erik Jones is replacing Kenseth, 45, at Joe Gibbs Racing next season . . . Kurt Busch, out of title contention, will start from the pole Sunday in Fort Worth.
Massa retiring from Formula One
Formula One driver Felipe Massa, 36, announced he will retire at the end of the season. Massa has 11 wins and 41 podiums from 268 races . . . Officials have ruled the deaths of NASCAR driver Ted Christopher and an 81-year-old pilot in a Connecticut plane crash an accident. The medical examiner’s office in North Branford said Thursday the September deaths of the 59-year-old Christopher and the plane’s pilot, Charles Dundas, were caused by blunt trauma. Isner upset in Paris
Qualifier Filip Krajinovic reached the Paris Masters final after upsetting American John Isner, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-5). Isner was also playing for a berth in the elite eight-man ATP Finals, and that ended, too. Krajinovic will play for his first career title against another American, Jack Sock, who comfortably beat Julien Benneteau, 7-5, 6-2. Sock can qualify for the ATP Finals if he wins Sunday . . . Julia Goerges will take on American CoCo Vandeweghe in the WTA Elite Trophy final Sunday in Zhuhai, China. Vandeweghe advanced with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ashleigh Barty, while Goerges posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Anastasija Sevastova . . . Russian figure skaters dominated at the Cup of China in Beijing to take the men’s and women’s titles. Mikhail Kolyada held on to his lead from the short program and claimed his first Grand Prix victory, while world junior champion Alina Zagitova won the women’s event.
