WEDNESDAY’S WEATHER: Morning fog burned off and it was sunny, a bit cloudy, and 81 degrees at Fenway South.
FUNDAMENTALLY SPEAKING: The 15 pitchers who didn’t throw off the mound in the bullpen had three defensive stations of 10 minutes apiece. They worked on comebackers, covering first base on groundballs to the right side, and fielding bunts.
PLAYER OF THE DAY: Darwinzon Hernandez threw in the bullpen with Ryan Brasier, Heath Hembree, Josh Taylor, and Martin Perez. The big lefty had good command of his fastball and spent some time consulting with Pedro Martinez. Hernandez, for now, is a reliever, but the staff had discussions on Tuesday about reconsidering him as a starter. “Maybe down the road he ends up as a starter,’’ manager Ron Roenicke said. “His stuff is fantastic.’’
THURSDAY’S SCHEDULE: The Sox will be on the field at approximately 10 a.m.
