
The Broncos offered quarterback Brock Osweiler a three-year deal worth about $13 million per season, the Denver Post reported Friday. Osweiler will become a free agent on Wednesday at 4 p.m. if the two sides can’t come to terms. If Peyton Manning has not made his decision to retire by Wednesday, the Broncos are likely to cut the legendary quarterback to avoid paying him a $19 million base salary . . . Earl Wolff, a defensive back on the Jaguars’ practice squad, was kidnapped for a short time but released unharmed while visiting his native North Carolina last month, the team confirmed Saturday. Police in Fayetteville said they received a call Feb. 23 about a robbery and kidnapping. The Fayetteville Observer reported that Wolff was visiting friends when a group of men with guns forced him into his Range Rover. Tad Dickman, senior manager of public relations for the Jaguars, released a statement that Wolff was ‘‘doing well, mentally and physically.’’ He asked the media to respect Wolff’s privacy. One man was charged Thursday in the case . . . Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh’s $114 million, six-year contract was restructured by the Dolphins to create salary cap space. Linebacker Koa Misi’s contract was also restructured. Receiver Greg Jennings was released, clearing $4 million in cap space. The Suh move won’t reduce the overall value of his contract, but could create an additional $18 million under the cap . . . Free agent defensive end Mario Williams was to meet Saturday with the Dolphins, said a person familiar with the situation . . . The Vikings agreed to a four-year, $16 million contract with safety Andrew Sendejo, according to NFL.com . . . The Chiefs voided the contract of veteran linebacker Tamba Hali, who took a pay cut with a reworked deal to remain with the team last season, a person familiar with the situation told the AP.

Simmons ineligible for prize
Freshman Ben Simmons is ineligible for the John R. Wooden Award that will be presented to the nation’s top college basketball player, according to Louisiana State University. Several reports stated that Simmons was academically ineligible for the award, but LSU athletics spokesman Michael Bonnette said only that the player didn’t meet the award’s requirements, without being specific . . . The University of Wisconsin conducted an investigation last year that cleared former basketball coach Bo Ryan of alleged misuse of school resources during an extramarital affair, school chancellor Rebecca Blank told the Wisconsin State Journal, according to EPSN.com. Blank released a statement to the State Journal on Saturday, saying the internal investigation was prompted by an e-mail sent by the woman who was involved in the affair with Ryan . . . First-year football coach Bill Cubit was fired by new University of Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman. Whitman said the Illini, who finished 5-7 under Cubit last season, needed a new coach to work toward long-term success.

New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider will miss Sunday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins because of a lower-body injury . . . Winnipeg is finally getting an outdoor game. The league is set to announce Sunday that the Jets will host the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 Heritage Classic, said a person involved in the decision. The Jets are expected to host the game at Investors Group Field, home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

Heat All-Star Chris Bosh tweeted that he was 'feeling good,’ but his status for the rest of the season remains a mystery. Bosh has been sidelined for three weeks after a blood clot was found in his calf, a situation that neither he nor the Heat has commented on publicly . . .
