Do you consider yourself a cool, possibly even edgy parent? Of course you do. To solidify that status, head to Union Square on Saturday, Oct. 1, for a pint-size rave complete with hip-hop, spicy sausages, face-painting, and alcohol for the grown-ups. Kids Union, a group devoted to “fun stuff to do for kids and people who hang out with kids,’’ hosts an al fresco dance party at The Neighborhood, a popular brunch spot, beginning at 4 p.m. Feast on hot dogs, burgers, sausages, chicken fingers, craft beer, wine, and local Gracie’s ice cream. (Gracie’s owner Aaron Cohen is the impresario behind Kids Union.) Tykes can groove to an eclectic playlist ranging from age-appropriate hip-hop to kids’ songs, and staffers from the restaurant will also face-paint. The party lasts from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.; kids are $5 at the door and adults are free. Be on the lookout for weekly Kids Union toddler dance parties starting in November at Somerville’s Thunder Road music club, lasting through the spring.
