Recent bird sightings as reported to the Massachusetts Audubon Society:
►Plum Island: A few highlights from the Parker River Refuge last week included two Manx shearwaters, two least bitterns, 42 greater yellowlegs, a Baird’s sandpiper, six stilt sandpipers, 68 short-billed dowitchers, two long-billed dowitchers, and a Hudsonian godwit.
►Quincy: The Blue Hills featured a pileated woodpecker, 18 house wrens, two worm-eating warblers, two prairie warblers, 40 eastern towhees, a field sparrow, two scarlet tanagers, and three indigo buntings.
►Fairhaven: At Egypt Road, reports continue to include four pied-billed grebes, five clapper rails, and 14 willow flycatchers.
►Miscellaneous: Reports included five Manx shearwaters at Revere Beach in Revere; two least bitterns at Great Meadows Refuge in Concord; an American bittern at Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area in Hanson; two little blue herons at Suffolk Downs in East Boston; two white ibises at Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary in South Wellfleet; a Baird’s sandpiper at Crane Beach in Ipswich; a northern parula in Wayland; and two mourning warblers at Quabbin Park in Ware.
