Gordon-Levitt, Pogue at tech talk

Joseph Gordon-Levittis one of the keynote speakers at LiveWorx, a conference devoted to the Internet of Things, which takes place June 6-9 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Gordon-Levitt (inset) is no stranger to the world of tech: He founded hitRECord, an online community where artists can collaborate and work on projects together, which spawned the Emmy-winning series “Hit Record on TV With Joseph Gordon-Levitt.’’ The actor will next be seen on the silver screen playing the leading role in Oliver Stone’s biopic “Snowden,’’ slated to be released in September.

Other speakers at the LiveWorx conference include Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman,cohosts ofthe Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters’’ show, and former New York Times technology columnist David Pogue,who writes for Yahoo Tech (which he founded) and Scientific American. Pogue also hosts science shows on PBS’s “Nova’’ and he appears as a correspondent for “CBS Sunday Morning.’’

Another convention center event that’s drawing big names is INTX: The Internet and Television Expo, which takes place this week from May 16 to 18. The expo’s lineup of speakers includes Arianna Huffington, Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore, FanDuel CEO Nigel Eccles, Periscope CEO Kayvon Beykpour, and LeVar Burton, whom you may remember from the PBS children’s series “Reading Rainbow.’’ Burton now serves as the co-executive producer of “Roots,’’ a four-night series that will premiere on the History channel on Memorial Day.
