Chase lineup set
NASCAR’s regular season came to an end at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night, with Denny Hamlin winning a wild race that featured Tony Stewart intentionally wrecking Ryan Newman to eliminate him from the playoff contention. Newman and Stewart made contact three times before finally wrecking. Stewart, who last week intentionally wrecked Brian Scott, is retiring at the end of the season and already had his spot in the playoffs secure. The 16 drivers who will move on to compete for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, which begins Sunday, are Stewart, Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Brad Kesolowski, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Kurt Busch, Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott, Austin Dillon, and Jamie McMurray.
The field will be whittled down over nine races to create a final four to race for the title on Nov. 20.
