Is it time to pay attention to Deshaun Watson as a legitimate fantasy quarterback, or is it time to simply pay attention to any quarterback who faces New England?

After a Week 3 performance against the Patriots during which he passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 41 dynamic yards, and accumulated 27 fantasy points, I think it’s safe to declare that Watson is worth owning. In just 2½ games, he has outpointed Carolina’s Cam Newton (who has played three full games), 53-38, and in Foxborough, Watson appeared as poised as he did at Clemson.

Newton obviously has been unproductive, but the plot thickens in Week 4 because his Carolina squad collides with New England, which has allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the first three weeks.

The Chiefs’ Alex Smith posted 39 against the Patriots, the Saints’ Drew Brees 26, and Watson had those 27.

It’s unusual for New England to be on the wrong side of such a statistic. Enjoy the game within the game this weekend.

Three up:

Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston: The Titans — with the third-most fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks — have been nearly as bad as the Patriots at stopping the passing game. Watson is at home and will remain in a groove. He’s a low-cost daily fantasy option.

Will Fuller, WR, Houston: Fuller is close to being healthy, and he’ll give Watson another quality weapon. Pick up Fuller before he’s in demand following a big game.

Jared Goff, QB, LA Rams: You no longer see the words “Goff’’ and “bust’’ in the same sentence, because he’s averaging more than 20 fantasy points per start in 2017.

Three down:

Tyrod Taylor, QB, Buffalo: Taylor has produced two solid games (24 fantasy points in Week 1, 23 in Week 3) and one forgettable outing (11 points in Week 2). That Week 2 performance was the Bills’ only road game, and I think the Bills — and Taylor — will struggle away from home again, even against a so-so Atlanta defense.

Derek Carr, QB, Oakland: Carr faced Denver once last season, in Oakland, and produced 184 passing yards and zero touchdowns. It won’t get any easier at Mile High.

Tyreek Hill, WR, Kansas City: Hill is in for a difficult game Monday night against an impressive Washington secondary.
