Kendra and Brad Dufton of the interiors firm Color Theory Boston live in this Dudley Square loft with their daughter, Clara, and incorporated her tastes and belongings into their design plans. She was 3 when this photo was taken. Her picture books are on prominent display. “It symbolizes the perfect balance of parents and child living together functionally and stylishly,’’ Brad said.

Downstairs at Felton Antiques in Waltham, adds interest to the skinny space between the 7-foot-tall windows. The paint color, Benjamin Moore’s “Slip,’’ is a cross between pale pink and lavender and infuses a hint

of femininity.

THE WALL COVERING

Cole & Son’s “Hicks Hexagon’’ wallpaper covers a bump-out that separates the office area from the living space. “David Hicks is Brad’s favorite designer,’’ Kendra said. “He creates environments that are so inspiring. We strive to do that in every project.’’

THE FURNITURE

The robin’s-egg blue velvet L-shaped sofa, which has memory foam seats with machine washable covers, is from Joybird. “We like to support American- made lines,’’ Kendra said, “plus it’s eco-friendly.’’

THE RUG

The couple liken the watercolor-like rug to a magnified seascape. “It’s as if you’re walking into the water,’’ Brad said. The whimsical tri-level coffee table is from West Elm.
