Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Old Colony Elder Services, based in Brockton. The grant will be used by Old Colony’s Money Management Program, which is made up of volunteers from 23 towns who help older adults with economic management services such as creating a budget and finding all financial benefits that a consumer is eligible to receive, said Nicole Long, Old Colony’s assistant executive director. Long said the grant, which the organization received last month, will be used for training the volunteers and will not go to salaries.

The North Easton Grammar School building in Easton marked its centennial year with a Metro South Chamber of Commerce networking event on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Douglas A. Douglas A. King Builders renovated the building and moved into it in 2006.

Westwood Media Center moved to a new facility in Westwood and held a grand opening on Thursday, Jan. 5. The new facility has a studio, editing room, computer lab, and control room, said the center’s executive director, Melinda Garfield. Previously, the media center operated out of an old jail cell turned office in the basement of the town hall, Garfield said. The new space will be shared with Westwood Artists, a local group, which is scheduled to display its first gallery on Feb. 3. Westwood residents are invited to sign up for a family, business, or individual memberships for classes, starting on Jan. 11, to learn how to use the equipment, Garfield said.
