BOSTON

Dorchester teens facing gun charges

Two male teenagers were arrested on gun charges Friday in separate incidents in Dorchester, Boston police said in a statement. The suspects, who are from Dorchester, were not identified. Each will face several charges, including unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. In the first incident, a 17-year-old was found with a 9mm handgun in his waistband at about 1 p.m. near Columbia Road and Devon Street. In the second incident, a 16-year-old was found with a .32 caliber handgun at about 9:30 p.m. Each is due to be arraigned Monday in Dorchester District Court, police said.

GEORGETOWN

FBI, police investigation to resume

Investigators plan to return this week to a home in Georgetown that was searched Friday by State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The search of the home on Chestnut Street is scheduled to resume Monday, said Carrie Kimball Monahan, a spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney’s office. An officer was guarding the home on Saturday, according to a Georgetown police dispatcher. Officials declined to describe the nature of the investigation beyond saying it is being led by the district attorney’s office. No one has been charged, according to Monahan.

Two women killed in fiery crash

Two women died in a fiery crash early Saturday morning after their car hit a bridge on Route 2, authorities said. The 2010 Mercedes was traveling east on Route 2 when it veered off the road, hit the bridge abutment at the Otter River Road overpass, rolled over, and then burst into flames, State Police said. Templeton firefighters put out the fire, but both women were pronounced dead at the scene. State Policearrived at the scene around 1:20 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Principal, two others off the job

The principal of the Summer Street Elementary School resigned, and two people who worked for the school district’s Metco program are no longer employed, following an incident on a school bus involving two children, School Superintendent Jane Tremblay said Saturday. The employees were not identified. Tremblay said state and federal privacy laws prevent her from discussing the incident in detail. “The incident has been addressed in accordance with school district policies,’’ she wrote in an e-mail to the Globe on Saturday. Andrea Grossman, spokeswoman for the state Department of Children and Families, said the agency “has received a report and we are investigating.’’

Woman seriously injured in dog attack

A woman was flown by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital Saturday afternoon after being attacked at a home in the village of Marston Mills, town officials said. The woman, who was not identified, was seriously injured after being bitten by the dog around 2:40 p.m. She was first taken by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, before being airlifted to Boston. Police believe the dog was a pet, but the breed was not disclosed. The extent of the woman’s injuries was not known Saturday night.

CRANSTON, R.I.

Officers take kids on shopping spree

Police officers in Cranston took part Saturday in “Shop with a Cop,’’ by taking local children from low-income families shopping for the holidays. Police, including Chief Michael Winquist, took children shopping at Walmart to brighten their holidays. Each child was paired with a uniformed officer and given money to spend on gifts for their relatives and themselves. The ­Cranston YMCA and Cadence Manufacturing are sponsoring the event. (AP)
