Taliban attack kills 15 security officers
KABUL — At least 15 security forces were killed Saturday in an attack by Taliban fighters in Farah province in western Afghanistan. Fared Bakhtawar, head of the provincial council, said seven army commandos and eight police were among those 15 killed in Bala Buluk district. Three other officers are missing and more than 30 insurgents were killed in the battle, he said. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujhaid claimed responsibility for the attack. (AP)

Evidence is sought in poisoning case
LONDON — British government security ministers held an emergency meeting Saturday to discuss the poisoning of a Russian who spied for Britain, as police backed by soldiers continued to search the English town where he was attacked with a nerve agent. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said it was still too early to say with certainty who was behind the poisoning that left former Russian military intelligence agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in critical condition. Tillerson expected to resume schedule
NAIROBI — Secretary of State Rex Tillerson canceled his scheduled events Saturday in Kenya because he was sick. ‘‘The secretary is not feeling well after a long couple days working on major issues back home, such as North Korea,’’ Undersecretary of State Steve Goldstein said. Tillerson is expected to resume his schedule Sunday. He plans to visit the site of the 1998 bombing of the US Embassy in Nairobi. (AP)

Palestinian teen dies in police clash
JERUSALEM — A 19-year-old Palestinian was killed Saturday in clashes in the northern West Bank. The teen was shot in the chest during confrontations with Israeli settlers, but it was unclear whether he was shot by settlers or troops, officials said. After Palestinians approached the Itzhar settlement, soldiers fired five rounds to disperse them. (AP)
