As a psychiatrist I must praise Wendy Kaminer’s opinion piece, “Rape culture activism may encourage girls to feel trauma.’’ I hope it will have a wide readership. Unwanted sexual attention, seduction, even assault are always unpleasant and to be deplored, but not usually permanently ruinous. We must avoid the danger of “thinking it makes it so’’ and thus making what is bad even worse. Thank goodness most victims are resilient.
