Like Yvonne Abraham (“The misogynist in full,’’ Metro, Oct. 9), I was disgusted when Billy Bush solicited a “little hug for the Donald.’’
But Bush is not alone.
Nevada Senate candidate Joe Heck can “no longer look past the pattern of behavior.’’ Why were he and so many others ever willing to do so?
Some Republicans are suggesting Trump step down and running mate Mike Pence step in. Pence was “grateful that [Trump] has expressed remorse and apologized,’’ and said he anticipated seeing what was in Trump’s heart in Sunday’s debate.
Meaning that until this past weekend, Pence could not see what was in Trump’s heart — a lack of judgment that should disqualify Pence, who should step down himself, acknowledging the lack of discernment to lead a nation.
John McCain claims that Trump “alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences.’’
But all those who have turned a blind eye to Trump’s vitriol, supporting him despite racism, misogyny, and viciousness, should be called to account.
As Abraham says, “they’re all Billy Bushes,’’ not bystanders, but enablers who have supported this frightening candidacy. They can still make it right — by accepting responsibility, suffering the consequences, and if possible, stopping this insanity now.
