The GlobeDocs Film Festival — which runs Oct. 11 to 15 — has announced its 2017 lineup, curated by GlobeDocs director of programming Lisa Viola, who also works with the Provincetown International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

The opening-night feature will be “Bending the Arc,’’ Kief Davidson and Pedro Kos’s film about Partners In Health founders Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim, and Ophelia Dahl, public health activists who’ve worked to set up quality health care in a village in Haiti. Executive producers of the film include Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

After the world premiere of “Bending the Arc’’ at the Sundance Film Festival, the Hollywood Reporter called it a real-world “superhero movie’’ that was received with “thunderous applause.’’ Farmer and Dahl will attend the local screening.

This year’s closing-night film is “A Fine Line,’’ a doc about women in the male-dominated culinary world. Filmmaker Joanna James will attend with her mother and subject, Valerie, chef-owner of Val’s Restaurant & Lounge in Holden.

Other docs on the roster include the Jake Gyllenhaal- and Jamie Lee Curtis-produced “Hondros,’’ by director Greg Campbell, about photojournalist Chris Hondros, who died covering the Libyan civil war in 2011; Trish Adlesic and Geeta Gandbhir’s “I Am Evidence,’’ a Mariska Hargitay-produced film about the widespread backlog of untested rape kits; and Jay Paris’s “Lenox Street,’’ about teens from a violent neighborhood in Boston who participate in a performing arts program.

This is the third year of GlobeDocs, which runs during the science/art/tech festival HUBweek, a partnership of The Boston Globe, Harvard, MIT, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
