Candlelight Walk 
This year’s First Friday Candlelight Walk and Gingerbread Village will be Friday, Dec. 6 from 5-9 p.m. in the downtown area. Roads including Main, High, College and Broad streets will be closed from 4:30-9:30 p.m. The Wadsworth High School Marching Band will perform at the gazebo from 5:30-6 p.m. with the tree-lighting ceremony with Mayor Robin Laubaugh and The Salvation Army beginning at 5:45 p.m. From 6-9 p.m. there will be free downtown horse and carriage rides.

VFW Post 1089 inaugural Christmas fundraiser
VFW Post 1089 will host its inaugural Christmas fundraiser Sunday, Dec. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. The evening, which is open to the public, will feature a spaghetti and meatball dinner for $7, as well as a gift raffle and door prizes throughout the day. Basket drawings will be at 4:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Wadsworth Community Band and Choir Christmas concert
The Wadsworth Community Band and Choir will be performing its free annual Christmas concert Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in the O.J. Work Auditorium in Central Intermediate School. Selections include: "Do You Hear What I Hear?" "When Saint Nick Comes Marching In," Handel's "Messiah" and many more. There will also be a gift raffle and photo opportunities with special guests, Santa and Mrs. Claus. Refreshments will be served after the concert.

Wayne College to host 'Old Fashioned Holiday at the Farmhouse'
The University of Akron Wayne College’s popular annual community event, "Old Fashioned Holiday at the Farmhouse," will be Saturday, Nov. 30 from 3-6 p.m. in the Barnet-Hoover Farmhouse. Free and open to the public, this family-friendly event will be packed with activities for all ages, including pictures with Santa, children's crafts, refreshments, live reindeer and horse-drawn wagon rides, provided by Spring Mist Farms. Wayne College to host Alumni Day
The University of Akron Wayne College will host Alumni Day Saturday, Dec. 7 at noon for anyone who has completed at least 30 credit hours at Wayne College. Along with a guest or family, Wayne College alumni are invited to stop by the Community Room inside the main classroom building for appetizers and socializing with other alumni from noon to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., the event then moves to the John Boyer Gymnasium for all to cheer on the Wayne Warriors women’s and men’s basketball teams, as they take on Miami University Hamilton. Wayne College to host College Credit Plus info night
The University of Akron Wayne College is hosting a College Credit Plus information night Monday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Student Life building. CCP is for students entering grades 7-12 and their parents to learn how to earn both college and high school credits at the same time for free. Light refreshments will be available. Friends of Woodlawn Cemetery
Friends of Woodlawn Cemetery will meet Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wadsworth Library. Theresa Merkle, president of Medina Friends of the Cemetery, will present a short program of the group's success in improving Spring Grove and Old Town cemeteries. The Wadsworth group will also elect officers and discuss bylaws and steps to non-profit status. All are welcome.

Efficiency Smart introduces heat pump rebates
Efficiency Smart has introduced a new $100 rebate on qualifying air source heat pumps and a $750 rebate on qualifying cold climate air source heat pumps for City of Wadsworth Electric and Communication customers. Medina County auditor celebrates local heroes
Medina County Auditor Mike Kovack recognizes 24 courageous, local men and women veterans of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam with the unveiling of “Faces of Sacrifice: A Gallery Honoring those Who Served,” captured by Medina photographer, Nick Hoeller. The free gallery will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Friday, Dec. 6 on the third floor of the Administration Building, 144 N. Broadway St., Medina.

25 Days of Christmas basket raffle
The Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation is sponsoring the 25 Days of Christmas basket raffle, which will feature 25 amazing gift baskets packed full of fun, entertaining and valuable items from last businesses, such as sporting events tickets, museum and theaters, restaurant gift cards, shopping sprees, handcrafted holiday items and much more. Each basket has something for everyone and last year’s baskets were valued at $500 each. To donate a new item, call the Soprema Senior Center at 330-335-1513. Tickets are $10 each and on sale now at the Soprema Senior Center and select Main Street Wadsworth events. Drawings will take place the Monday after Thanksgiving for three weeks. All basket raffle proceeds support the Soprema Senior Center to keep membership and programs free, help pay for the food voucher lunch program and support upgrades to the facility.
