An artist talk, a new college vice president, and an art show

The 13Forest Gallery in Arlington will host a reception and talk with artist Allison Maria Rodriguez on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. The talk is titled “In the Presence of Absence: An Exploration of Ecological and Cultural Loss.’’ The Tufts University alumna is a Boston-based artist working mostly with new media, film, and installation. Business strategist Eric Turner has recently been named vice president of the Graduate and Professional Studies division at Lasell College in Newton. He is an emeritus member of the college’s board of trustees. In this new role, he hopes to expand programming for available educational and career development opportunities.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, there will be a free art show at St. Paul’s Parish Hall in Hopkinton from 1 to 5 p.m. It will feature oil paintings, woodworking, photography, and homemade crafts. For more information, call 508-435-4536.
