The South Shore Arts Center’s festival will include exhibitions, food, and live music throughout the weekend.

ARTS FESTIVAL South Shore Art Center’s 61st annual Arts Festival will include three art exhibitions, more than 90 juried craft and fine art exhibitor tents, artist demonstrations, food booths, and live music throughout the weekend. American Idol finalist Siobhan Magnus will perform at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The festival will kick off when photographer Ron Pownall exhibits more than 40 photographs of the ’70s and ’80s rock ’n’ roll music scene Thursday night, June 16. Powell photographed Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Elton John, Queen, and many others.

CHAMBER MUSIC Local vocal ensemble Genesis Chamber Singers performs in “The Gift of Music’’ fund-raiser for The James Library & Center for the Arts. Extending over three floors of the center, the event will include art, hors d’oeuvres, wine, and sweets as the group’s eight singers perform throughout the evening.

BLOCK PARTY The “Weyfest’’ celebration, a free family-oriented block party offering a day of activities and music, begins with a torch-lighting ceremony at the original landing spot of the first settlers at Wessagussett in 1622.

A series of runners, community members of distinction and merit, will advance the torch through the streets of Weymouth, with the final leg by Weymouth’s 1992 Olympian, Tim Sweeney.

“Weyfest’’ will offer an assortment of family-friendly events, including a children’s “Color Fun Run,’’ Wiffle ball tilt, a touch-a-truck event, and a variety of field competitions. A music festival at 1 p.m. will include five bands with Weymouth connections, leading to Danny Klein’s “Full House’’ J. Geils tribute band.
