When Liz Conrad of Scituate gave birth to daughter Vivienne a couple of years ago, she went online to find deals on diapers. At one site, she found a posting from a woman in a homeless shelter in need of them. A day later, Conrad said, no one had responded.

“I realized I was in a good spot,’’ said Conrad, who works for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Quincy, and whose husband, Adam, is bank manager of MountainOne Bank in Scituate. “So a friend and I got a bunch of diapers and visited the woman at her shelter.’’

The woman cried in appreciation, Conrad said, making her realize “something had to be done.’’

That something was forming “Viv’s Give,’’ named for her daughter to instill in her a sense of giving, Conrad said. The nonprofit has been running for more than a year, and has collected and donated around $7,000 worth of diapers, wipes, lotions, and formula for families in need throughout the area.

“Anyone with babies knows how expensive these things can be, and with closings of WIC (Women, Infants and Children supplemental nutrition program) offices, a lot of women can’t get to the offices that are open,’’ Conrad said.

Anyone in need of assistance can visit www.vivsgive.com to find out how to qualify, she said, and there is also a Facebook page. People wishing to donate goods can drop them off at AZ Studio in Hingham, MountainOne Bank in Scituate, and the law office of Susan Castleton Ryan in Abington.

Viv’s Give is also hosting a fund-raiser Sunday, April 3, “Viv’s Give for Kids,’’ from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School in Hanover.

“It just lifts my spirits,’’ Conrad said. “It’s my hobby, my passion; I like being able to relieve some angst for families.’’
