Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, hospital medical staff and the Medina Hospital Foundation have selected the 2017 recipients of the scholarships offered to Medina County school district graduates. This year, 19 $1,000 scholarships were made possible through the generous support of many people across Medina County who have an interest in supporting future medical professionals. Each spring, the Medina Hospital Foundation offers two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from each of Medina County’s school districts to students who plan a course of study in the medical field.

Medina Hospital Foundation scholarships will be awarded to Allison Chudzinsky, Cloverleaf; Jessica Proncek and Cassandra Pasadyn, Brunswick; Melissa Matz and Sarah Oliver, Buckeye; Julianna Morgan and Nicholas Schmeller, Medina; Frances Radway and Hayley Sotherland, Black River; and Hannah Siwik, Highland.

The Jean Myers Scholarships were created to remember Jean Myers who was an educator, hospital volunteer and philanthropist. Myers Scholarships were awarded to McKenzie Erne, Lily Goettler, Abigail Maruna, Macy McAdams, Karina Pedersen, Antara Rath and Madeline Smith.

Bill Kelly, a founder of Bil-Jac Foods, was also the catalyst who started the Medina Hospital Foundation. Receiving the Bill and Ruth Kelly Scholarships are Carly Schmitt of Medina and Vanessa Pasadyn of Hinckley.

In addition, the Medina Hospital medical staff offers 10 $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors from Medina County who are entering a course of study in the medical field. Medical staff scholarships will be awarded to Allison Chudzinsky, Cloverleaf; McKenzie Erne, Melissa Matz and Ariana Shaerban, Buckeye; Brook Hein, Brunswick; Kalynne Lesure, Black River; Hannah Siwik, Highland; Amberley Wehrmeyer, Medina; and Tyler Peters, Walsh Jesuit.
